This meeting time change is to accommodate a conversation with a possible ally in the struggle to end US support for the war in Yemen. He works during the day when we would ordinarily hold our monthly meeting. The first half hour will be dedicated to this discussion.
Since this is a pivotal time to possibly overcome Trump’s 5 vetoes of resolutions to end weapons sales and other support for the Saudi Emirati led war in Yemen legislative lobbying is essential. We will review what we need to do to keep the relevant amendments to the FY 2020 NDAA in the final bill that will go to the president.
Things with Iran are continuing to heat up with the results of the so called “maximum pressure” campaign designed to starve the Iranian economy. Efforts by the other signatories of the JCPOA don’t yet seem to be offering Iran sufficient economic relief and they have just declared that they will remove limits from their nuclear program. Our “Hands Off Iran” postcard initiative continues after a successful debut at the Solidarity Labor Day Picnic. We’ll be talking about more ways to wage this campaign
