Negotiators of the Iran nuclear deal from China, France, Germany, The European Union, Iran, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, April 2, 2015

This will go beyond the “Hands off Iran” theme of the past several years because of the new Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action which is in its first year of implementation.  We will gather at the Capitol entrance to the Empire State Plaza at 12:15 PM to gather and vigil from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

Our banners and signs will include Diane Reiner’s wonderful photos of Iranians, plus many of the yard signs and banners that say no to endless war and demand an end to arms sales and drone killings.

We are iranians

We are Iranians

Here’s the text of the leaflet that we will be handing out at the vigil:  Iranleaflet2016, two sided.

Some new details added after our July 19th planning meeting:
Participants are asked to wear some white as a symbol of peace.

The vigil will be held rain or shine. Unless the Food Festival is cancelled because of thunderstorms.
We will provide signs and banners or you can bring your own if you prefer.

Some of our banners and signs will echo the messages of our leaflet:

Diplomacy Saves Lives and Money: Keep the Iran Nuclear Deal in mind as the November election season approaches.
We can’t afford any more war; we need to use diplomacy as we did in the Iran Deal.
Arms sales are a huge part of the problems in the Middle East.
Wouldn’t you rather see more of the US budget focused on domestic issues?
Insist that candidates you support for presidential and congressional elections this November are willing to reduce military spending and will say NO to Endless War and sales of weapons. Encourage them to say YES to diplomacy instead.
