This will be a normal planning and discussion meeting mainly concerning two major problems in the region.
1. Limiting Congressional damage to the JCPOA now that Trump has refused to certify the agreement in his most recent 90 day review. We need to try to prevent agreement killing sanctions and demands for intrusive inspections beyond those that the JCPOA already mandates. And we need to prevent focus on Iran as the most disruptive force in the Middle East when right now it’s clearly Saudi Arabia, followed by Israel and its treatment of the Palestinians.
2. Stopping arms sales and military and intelligence support to the Saudis in the midst of their deadly attacks on civilians and blockades of air, land and sea access to food and other vital supplies. After almost 3 years this is now a severe humanitarian crisis moving into famine and with almost a million cholera cases.
